Staff Therapist
Sheila Torres, LCSW-R
Sheila received a Master of Social Work degree from Fordham University and has over 20 years of experience as a therapist. Sheila uses compassion in providing clients with a safe environment to freely explore the problems that prevent them from living their best life. Sheila is a solution-based therapist who works with individuals and family members struggling with addiction and mental health disorders.
Sheila is an experienced group, individual and family therapist using a variety of therapeutic modalities including CBT, Mindfulness, Person Centered, Family Systems, crisis intervention, and grief/bereavement counseling. Sheila also provides clients with education and support on post-acute withdrawal syndrome, the progression and treatment of the disease of addiction, its effect on mental illness and the process of recovery.

Staff Therapist
Farah Benenati, LCSW
Farah received her Master’s in Social Work at Adelphi University. She has worked with many different populations in different modalities. She has vast experience working with adolescents, adults and families. Most recently, she has provided memory training and psychotherapy to the geriatric population. Farah uses an eclectic approach to support her clients, including person-centered, CBT and systems theory. She meets her clients where they are and together, Farah and her clients find ways to improve their lives through obstacles such as depression, anxiety and relationship conflicts. Farah provides support, empathy, and uses her knowledge and experience to help her clients overcome challenges.

Gloria DeMaio-Herrera, LCSW
Gloria completed her Master of Social Work at SUNY Stonybrook and completed her training at elementary and charter schools in the Long Island area. Gloria is skilled in providing structured therapy for children with ADHD, and therapy focusing on social skills development with children. She has also worked extensively with children who have experienced divorce, neglect, and trauma. She also has experience providing individual counseling to the adult and geriatric population struggling with chronic and acute mental illness.
Gloria's theoretical orientation is integrative. She uses strength-based and/or cognitive behavioral therapy. Depending on the unique needs and goals of her client(s), she incorporates a broad range of modalities & techniques. A few of which include motivational interviewing, play therapy, mindfulness/relaxation techniques, social skills training, behavior modification, and group therapy.

Heather Reich-Stone, LCSW
Heather received a Master of Social Work degree from New York University Ehrenkranz School of Social Work and an advanced certificate from Columbia University. Heather has over 20 years of experience as a therapist working with adults dealing with chronic illness, depression, anxiety, bereavement, and adjustment issues. She has a strong background in addictions and believes in a harm reduction perspective.
More recently Heather has been working within the special needs community, developing and facilitating psychoeductional support groups to parents of children with special needs. She was trained in psychodynamic theory as well as REBT. She has also utilized CBT in helping clients work through disruptive behaviors/symptomolgy that are actively interfering with their functioning.

Melissa Fetherston, LMSW
Melissa completed her Masters in Social Work at Long Island University. She continued her training at Turtle Hook Middle School running weekly groups and meeting with students one on one to assist in any crisis or bullying issues. Melissa worked at SCO Family Services with youth in NYC foster care making sure the their needs were being met in a timely and professional matter, as well as working with the school system, the court system, and the child’s medical and clinical team to ensure they were thriving and safe.
Melissa utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Person-Centered approach when working with clients depending on their specific struggles and presenting issues. She helps clients with self-actualization and focuses on developing a therapeutic bond while working toward their therapy goals.

Tatyana Oquendo, MHC-LP
Tatyana earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Niagara University. She continued her training at Erie County Medical Center where she provided adolescents with individual counseling and group counseling. She also trained at Niagara County Department of Mental Health where she provided adults with individual and group
counseling services.
Tatyana has also assessed clients, collaborated with attending doctors to accurately diagnose, and tailored treatment interventions to the specific needs of the
clients. Her ability to facilitate a non-judgmental therapeutic environment allows for clients to feel accepted, validated, and free to be their true, authentic selves. She prides herself on being able to genuinely engage in the therapeutic relationship and treatment
plan, and express empathy for the clients and their specific needs. Her treatment is tailored to the specific needs of the client. Tatyana's personal theoretical orientation is rooted in utilizing interventions and strategies of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, and person-centered therapy to improve the overall functioning of the client.

Staff Intern
Erin Carroll
Erin received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Quinnipiac University and is currently in her second and final year at Hofstra University in the Creative Arts Therapy Counseling Master’s degree program. Very recently, she has had experience in leading art therapy groups with preschool and kindergarten aged children in a school setting. Erin is also working as a recreational therapist assistant at a nursing home and provides everyday wellness activities to the residents that include exercise, mindfulness and creating art. Erin feels that it is important to listen to clients and their needs and to make them feel like they are heard and valued. Erin believes in the power of working together in order to provide a safe environment with clients, so they feel comfortable in sharing the problems that are impacting them.
